Help Me With the Cost of Figure Skating
Donation protected
I started skating about six and a half years ago, when I was in seventh grade. It started out just as a hobby, but as the years have gone by and I’ve gotten more serious about it, it’s become a large, deeply important part of me. To reflect this seriousness, in recent years I have started competing, testing, and taking more private lessons and group classes.
I love the performance aspect of figure skating. It’s probably my favorite part about the sport. One of my biggest skating goals is to go to National Showcase, a competition centered around showcase (performance based) skating. In order to do this, I will need more lessons, ice time, and classes. This of course means that my expenses will increase significantly.
I pay for all my own skating, and recently it’s been difficult to afford the lessons and ice time I have on a weekly basis. If I want to increase the amount of time I spend skating it’s going to hit me very hard financially.
I work three part time jobs to skate as much as I do now, but seeing as I’m also a full time student I can only take on so much. I’ve been having to use money from my savings to keep skating, but that’s not something I can continue doing seeing as my expenses are going to increase drastically when I transfer colleges after this upcoming year, and I’ll likely need it then. There is only so much I’m able to put towards skating and at the moment it’s not enough.
Any amount you can afford to donate helps and is greatly appreciated. I love skating and want nothing more than to be able to continue with it for as long as I can. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and considering helping me out!
