I’m working hard to recover and land on my feet during a hasty transition precipitated by my struggle with addiction. This last summer I had a run in with the law while traveling to Montreal for a brief vacation. After 11 days in prison, I returned home and publicly announced my battle with addiction from the pulpit. After an attempt at working towards recovery while continuing to pastor, the bishop and I decided it would be best to leave the church for a period to be appointed to a new church in July. On the practical side, I am now facing the unexpected costs of moving, making the initial payment on an apartment in New York City, storing three floors of belongings, and paying the mounting legal fees for my court case in Canada.
It has been a tumultuous summer and fall, and I could really use your support. Some of you have given me emotional support, others have helped me pack or brought me boxes, but now what I could really use is your encouragement, your prayers, and your financial assistance. The costs of this transition are high and unexpected. I should be out of the parsonage by December 1, meaning some funds will be needed quickly. If you can make a a monetary donation, or even just loan me some funds, it will help me transition in a timely manner, with some of my sanity still in tact.
So that you know you are supporting me and not my addiction, Judy and Michael Fram have volunteered to manage this Go Fund Me and pay the funds directly to a landlord, movers and storage facility.
I am so appreciative of all of your support. I hate to ask for something additional, but I don’t know how I can move forward without you.
Thanks so much your love and concern.
Peace,
Herb
