Lawrence Stephens Pardoned After 1,823 yr Sentence

Donation protected
Hi my name is Sarah Stephens. I am THE sister of Lawrence J. Stephens. My brother, Lawrence Stephens was sentenced to 1,823 years for a crime he committed at the age of 18. His sentence was excessive. He has spent the last 20 years fighting for his freedom. On December 17, 2021, a Pardon was granted from Governor Ralph Northam of Virginia. With no money, transportation, health services, or insurance, he will have to rebuild his life. This is a reality that my brother  Lawrence Stephens will have to face.

Lawrence Stephens’ sentencing judge deviated from the recommended guidelines of 13 years subjecting Lawrence to a death sentence. While his white codefendant received 10 years for orchestrating the crime. Governor Northam recognized the injustices in Lawrence Stephens’ case and granted him a conditional pardon with terms that he relinquishes any claims or causes for action he may have against the Commonwealth of Virginia.
For more than 20 years, my brother has been incarcerated. He will leave prison at the age of 38 years old. My brother as well as my family are overwhelmed with the most gratitude and joy. Lawrence has 2 beautiful daughters, me, and 1 older brother that will be there for him. However, we lost our mother back in 2011 and our father in 1994. My sibling and I have always been very close, but this journey has been quite heavy on us all.
Although my brother is excited about the possibility of a second chance at life, he understands the harsh reality he will face during a global pandemic.
While his transition back into society can be quite challenging, we are determined to help this go as smoothly as possible. We are confident that Lawrence Stephens will be released upon completion of the reentry program in a few weeks. We know he will face many hurdles adjusting to life outside the prison walls and we hope that we can count on you to help make a difference to him after the judicial system failed him.
There has been an immeasurable amount of love and support he’s been receiving, and I am so very grateful for it all. Thank you so much for your time, your kind hearts, and love offerings. Big thanks to the organization Fighting4Freedom, your compassion and dedication towards this success have been a blessing and a huge relief.
May God bless you all. Let’s Welcome Home Lawrence Stephens!!!
Please donate today to help Lawrence Stephens establish himself in a home and provide for his re-entry into society.
