Hi, My name is Megan and I am seeking help to be able to walk a stage for the 1st time in my life. I am 36 years old and decided to go back to school to get my Bachelors in Social Work. I have 4 kids and am also a single mom. As a youth, to say the least, times were challenging for me. I was not given the chance to be able to finish school and graduate. I am a recovering addict and God willing, will have 9 years clean as of 12/12/22. I currently work as a Substance Abuse Counselor and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. I went to school for Social Work so I could further my career in helping others. I attend Walden University Online School, and because it is online, the graduation ceremony is not in the same state that I live (Tennessee). The commencement will occur in Orlando, Florida January 19-21st 2023. To be able to successfully complete my degree, which will be on Novemeber 20th 2022, I have had to do 5 months of internship. What that means is I have only been able to work part-time. During this time, bills have been lucky to be paid and in a few things, am now in debt. To be able to walk the stage, it will cost a lot more than I am able to afford. From regristration fees, to cap and gown, regalia to 4 different social work honor societies and Academic Award, transport, food, hotel and basic financial necessities while there for myself and four kids...this is beyond a budget than I am able to afford. This is something that I am so passionate about being able to attend that I have gone so far to make a GoFund me. This is very humbling for me as I know that there are far more greater needs than mine. I am making this asking for any help that I can get to be able to walk the stage. Thank you for your time and consideration. :)
