Hello everyone,

My name is Debin Rai, and I am an international student studying in Vancouver, Canada. I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your kindness and support.

Two months ago, my father, Mr. Chhatra Kumar Rai (65 years old), underwent major small intestine surgery due to an intestinal perforation. He was able to eat a little at first, but lately, he has not been able to swallow food at all, and his health has been declining. Each phone call from home leaves me in tears.

My father is a retired school teacher who spent his life teaching and helping children in our village. He has always been the pillar of our family kind, humble, and devoted to others. Seeing the person who once inspired so many now weak and in pain after his surgery has been one of the hardest things for us.

My mother and family are doing their best to take care of him in Nepal. They tell me to finish my studies and come later because my father’s biggest dream has always been to see me graduate. I have tried to stay strong, thinking that my travel expenses could help pay for some of his medical bills and maybe buy him some time. But seeing his condition, I can’t hold it in anymore. I’m afraid of what God has planned, and I just want to go home — to touch him, to listen to him, to hold his hand, and to promise him that his son will do great things in the future and that I am here with him.

As an international student, I’m struggling financially with tuition, rent, and basic living costs. I don’t have enough savings to buy a round-trip ticket to Nepal. Still, I can’t bear the thought of not being there during this time. I may not be able to do much, but I just want to hold his hand, to touch him, and to tell him he’s not alone.

That’s why I’m starting this GoFundMe to raise funds for travel expenses so I can go home and be with my father while he fights through this illness.
