In 2020, my world changed forever when I lost my daughter at just 7 years old. She is buried in Savannah, Georgia, and every year since, her mother and I have met at her grave to honor her memory and feel close to her. This tradition means everything to me, and it’s one of the few ways I can still feel connected to my little girl.


Last year, I wasn’t able to make the trip. I had just moved from Asheville, North Carolina to Akron, Ohio because of Hurricane Helene, and I didn’t have a car. Now, I finally have a car, but I recently lost my job the week of Christmas. I’m struggling to pay my bills, and I simply don’t have enough money for gas, food, and a place to stay on the journey to Savannah and back. Missing another year at my daughter’s grave would be heartbreaking.
