Two years ago, my mom’s house was condemned while she was in the hospital recovering from a stroke. She lost nearly everything—her belongings, her home, and her two beloved pets. Since then, she’s been staying in a rehabilitation center, and every day she asks when I’ll be able to come see her. It breaks my heart not to have transportation to visit her as often as I’d like, and I know she feels alone and heartbroken by all she’s lost.
I’ve been walking from Payne City to Bloomfield Rd, sometimes in the cold and even getting caught in the rain, just to see her. It’s been tough, but I do it because I want to be there for her. I’ve always been the one to help others, but now I find myself needing support.
I want to get an electric bike so I can visit my mom more often, bring her personal care items, and take her out for meals somewhere special, away from the rehabilitation center where she’s been for two years. I also hope to create a comfortable place for her to stay when she’s ready to leave the center.
Asking for help isn’t easy for me, but any support would mean the world to us. Thank you for reading my story and considering a donation to help me be there for my mom during this difficult time.
