I’m on a mission to expand my ability to support and uplift others, and one of the key steps on this journey is bringing a mentor into my life. With your help, I hope to raise the funds needed to work with a mentor who can guide me in reaching my next goals: launching a nonprofit organization, creating meaningful speaking engagements, and writing a book to share my story and inspire others. Your support will help turn this vision into reality and make a lasting impact in the lives of many.
Six and a half years ago, I was at rock bottom. I was battling the weight of severe trauma, and the mental and emotional pain that came with it. In the middle of that darkness, I made the decision to get better. It wasn’t a straight path — I stumbled ia lot, terrified of facing the world.
On July 16, 2019, everything changed. I went for a run to clear my head, and I was struck by a texting driver going 45 mph. In an instant, I suffered a spinal cord injury, a traumatic brain injury, and countless other wounds that eventually led to the amputation of my leg six months later.
For the first two years, I struggled to adjust to my new reality. I lost hope for my future. The nurse who helped revive me reached out and we began to talk frequently. We had lunch one day and what she had to say changed my perspective on life — something shifted in me.
About four years after my injury, a friend asked me to go with her to a support group with her, and I when I shared my story, the people in that room saw value in me long before I could see it in myself. That night, I realized my story could help others. And from then on, helping others became my purpose.
Over these last few years, I’ve dedicated my life to lifting others up. But recently, I’ve had to face the truth that I still carry blocks, old wounds, and moments of self-doubt. I’ve discovered that I’ve been limiting myself again, even as I carry big dreams to make the world a better place.
Not long ago, I went on the Lindsey Stirling cruise where I met a mentor who guided me back into my body and my breath in a way I’ve never experienced before. She helped me see that despite my disability, I can still find freedom — and that the greatest limitations are often the ones we place on ourselves. Her mentorship has shown me that I still have so much more to give, so much more to dream, and so much more to create.
I’m asking for something deeply personal: support in funding a year-long mentorship with her. This mentorship will give me the tools and guidance I need to follow my dreams, to continue healing through my body and mind from the trauma, and to show the world what is possible.
I’ve been through so much. I know now that my voice and my story are meant to be heard. Today my disability has become my strength and given me the ability to reach out to so many others that feel lost and stuck.
With your support — whether from friends, family, or even kind strangers — I can step into this next chapter and prove that what looks like a roadblock can actually become a doorway.
Thank you for any and all support you have given me, it could not be possible without you!
Sincerely,
Michael Jensen
