Hello everyone!

My name is Andy, and I’ve recently been accepted into the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, an opportunity that represents not only artistic growth, but a truly life-changing step toward my future. I am also honored to share that I would become the first Mexican to attend this program!

However, as an international student, the financial burden of attending is significantly greater, and without support, this opportunity may ultimately be out of my reach. The funds raised will go directly toward covering the essential costs of attending the program, including:

My family is currently facing complex financial challenges. My father has been suffering from chronic pain for several years, and while doctors have not been able to provide a definitive diagnosis, it is widely believed to be Fibromyalgia. This condition has severely limited his ability to continue working as a mechanic, which was previously our main source of income.

Alongside this, my parents have been involved in a difficult and ongoing legal dispute over the property where my father operates his workshop, and there is a strong possibility that he may be required to vacate the space in the coming months. The situation remains tense, as the opposing party frequently interferes with his work and threatens him. This legal battle has lasted nearly five years and has deeply shaped both my family’s financial reality and my own path. As a result, my mother has become the primary provider for our household. Despite her incredible effort, the combined costs of medical care, legal fees, and my education have placed us in a very difficult financial position.

These circumstances also influenced my academic decisions. Although acting has always been one of my greatest passions, I felt compelled to step away from it and pursue a law degree, both due to financial instability and the expectation to choose a more “secure” path.

My family has done everything possible to support my dreams, but we were not financially prepared for the additional cost of traveling to Glasgow because my acceptance into the program was uncertain at the time.

I am also doing everything in my power to raise funds independently and reaching out to cultural institutions for support.

The National Youth Theatre represents more than training. It is a chance to reconnect with a passion I was once forced to set aside, to grow artistically and personally, to connect across cultures, and to bring those experiences back to my community.

I truly believed this dream was no longer possible for me, but this opportunity brought it back to life.

Me llamo Andy y recientemente he sido aceptada en el Teatro Nacional Juvenil de Gran Bretaña, una oportunidad que representa no solo un crecimiento artístico, sino también un paso trascendental hacia mi futuro. ¡Me siento muy honrada de compartir que seré la primera mexicana en participar en este programa!

Sin embargo, como estudiante internacional, la carga financiera es significativamente mayor y, sin apoyo, esta oportunidad podría quedar fuera de mi alcance. Los fondos recaudados se destinarán directamente a cubrir los gastos esenciales del programa, incluyendo:

Mi familia atraviesa dificultades económicas complejas. Mi padre sufre de dolor crónico desde hace varios años y, aunque los médicos no han podido darle un diagnóstico definitivo, se cree que se trata de fibromialgia. Esta condición ha limitado gravemente su capacidad para seguir trabajando como mecánico, que antes era nuestra principal fuente de ingresos.

Además, mis padres se han visto envueltos en una difícil y prolongada disputa legal por la propiedad donde mi padre tiene su taller, y existe una alta probabilidad de que deba desalojar el espacio en los próximos meses. La situación sigue siendo tensa, ya que la parte contraria interfiere frecuentemente en su trabajo y lo amenaza. Esta batalla legal ha durado casi cinco años y ha marcado profundamente tanto la situación financiera de mi familia como mi propio futuro. Como resultado, mi madre se ha convertido en el principal sostén de la familia. A pesar de su increíble esfuerzo, los gastos combinados de atención médica, honorarios legales y mi educación nos han colocado en una situación económica muy difícil.

Estas circunstancias también influyeron en mis decisiones académicas. Aunque la actuación siempre ha sido una de mis mayores pasiones, me sentí obligada a dejarla de lado y estudiar Derecho, tanto por la inestabilidad económica como por la expectativa de elegir un camino más "seguro".

Mi familia ha hecho todo lo posible por apoyar mis sueños, pero no estábamos preparados económicamente para el costo adicional del viaje a Glasgow, ya que mi admisión al programa era incierta en ese momento.

También estoy haciendo todo lo posible para recaudar fondos de forma independiente y contactando a instituciones culturales en busca de apoyo.

El Teatro Nacional Juvenil representa mucho más que formación. Es una oportunidad para reconectar con una pasión que una vez me vi obligada a dejar de lado, para crecer artística y personalmente, para conectar con otras culturas y para compartir esas experiencias con mi comunidad.

Realmente creía que este sueño ya no era posible para mí, pero esta oportunidad lo ha revivido.
