Hello, friends!
I am once again calling on my community for support in any way that you can as I’ve expended a lot of my savings and my parents’ funds trying to get the care I need. I’ve been unable to work since May and will still not be able to return for quite some time. I have been in and out of facilities getting nodules removed, biopsied, imaging, labs, just being tossed around by specialists seemingly day and night without answers.
MUSC came through once again providing me with referrals for tests I knew I needed, I now, after a weekend in the ER, have confirmation that I have a number of herniations in my spine with extra bone growths and rapid degeneration causing compression of my spinal chord (myelopathy). This has caused me to experience multiple episodes of paralysis, full body muscle weakness, loss of vision, horrible nerve pain, spasms, and inability to walk long distances or complete basic daily functions some days (ie. showering, laundry, dishes). At this time I don’t not meet the crazy eligibility standards for SSDI. I will hopefully be a candidate for ADR and decompression without having to lose mobility by undergoing a fusion of multiple joints down my cervical and lumbar. Without speedy intervention I could end up with permanent nerve damage which is terrifying to say the least, given my arm and legs have been the main target of these paralysis episodes with loss of sensation.
I am making this gofundme in hopes that I can have some financial support in my continued travel for care with how crazy gas, lodging, prescriptions, orthotics, and food is now that I am able to eat again with diet restrictions following procedures in October. I have been traveling and will continue having to travel to Orlando, Jacksonville, and South Carolina for the foreseeable future with about 4 appointments weekly, already scheduling out into June. It is not lost on me how horrible times are for everyone financially right now, so please don’t feel pressured to donate. This is truly just an anything and everything helps situation while we’re clawing our way through this next part of my healthy journey. Thank you for your time.
