Help me transition to life in a wheelchair
Donation protected
Imagine you woke up one morning and your feet hurt so badly that you couldn’t make them work. You try to stand and your feet just crumble to the side and you fall. That’s what happened to me.
Hello, thanks for reading my story.

There’s a variety of things that could make things safer and help me live a bit more independently, but they all cost money.
The doors in my house, many of them only 28” wide, need widened so I don’t keep hurting my hands. I need a new desk that I won’t hit my knees on because the one I have is not tall enough underneath for my knees to clear. So I end up leaning forward to reach things all day, which isn’t safe and is causing other problems like back pain. These are just 2 examples of issues that could be easily solved if I had a little money.
I have searched high and low for an affordable desk that will work with my wheelchair, and I have been unsuccessful. We also need money for materials to widen the doors. My spouse is donating his time and labor, so the cost would just be for materials like wood to build the header and a door itself. Other issues I could give for an example would be a ramp in the laundry room that makes a sharp right turn. Again, my spouse would build it, but we need money for materials.
We were able to find materials to build a ramp out front so I could get out of the house, but the rest is still very much needed. All money raised will go to handicap accessibility in our house. I am strong and resilient and will make it through this nightmarish time, but I need your help.
Any amount adds up and will help!
Thank you so much.
