Help Me Transition Home From The Hospital
Hey, Everyone!
Scott or as I'm better known on "whiskeytube" as Fifth Quarter Tailgate. I'm here asking for some help. As most of you know I took a hiatus from streaming in January. the reason for this is I have been dealing with weakness in my arms and legs. I have not been able to get myself into and out of bed without trained medical staff.
After a few weeks of being in a hospital they recommended I enter an intensive Physical and Occupational therapy facility where I have been since March 5th. This facility provided 3-6 hours of therapy a day. I have gained quite a bit of strength but I don't feel like I am at my 100% yet to where I was before. Unfortunately my Insurance disagrees.
My Insurance company has decided to stop coverage Monday April 8th. This facility has recommended that I go home with Home Health Care (medical needs), in home PT and OT, and a Daily Aid to assist with getting into my chair, and basic cooking and cleaning. The daily aid is not covered by insurance and charges a rate of $40/hour for 2-4 hours a day which is a large sum of money over time. I am also in the process of being fitted for a power wheelchair. This will help me be less reliant on others because my manual chair I currently have uses alot of energy to maneuver. Unfortunately, my insurance only covers a base model and no upgrades like a more supportive back rest or foot rest that is easier to remove out of the way.
This GoFundMe will help cover these costs and any other expenses not covered by insurance. I greatly appreciate any help and hopefully I'll be able to receive the care I need to regain my independence very soon.
