So, I lost my car 2 years ago because I couldn’t afford full coverage insurance. I also lost the best paying job I’ve ever had because of it. Which ment I had to get a new job. I did a few low paying jobs, but for over a year now I have been working for Hendrick Medical Center. I have to walk to work at 3 different locations. 2 locations are 1 and a half hours walk from my apartment the other is an hour away. I walk both ways so that’s 2 to 3 hours extra walking I have to do each day I work. Very rarely I’ll get a ride home from a nice coworker. I’m 43 years old and my body can’t take much more of this. I’ve walked in a thunderstorm that flooded the streets up to my knees. I’ve been chased by dogs. I work night shift so I’m walking at midnight. The streets are dangerous. No shade in 100° summer days, and it’s been below freezing in winter. I also have to take care of my sister who had a brain tumor when she was 18, she hasn’t worked in over a year so I’m paying for everything. Rideshares costs are $15-$20 one way to my job so I’d be spending $30-$40 a day on rides, I can’t afford that. I also only work part time because I can’t work full time, you have to be able to be on call and I can’t do that without a car.
A friend has offered to give me a car, but I have to transfer the title into my name first. That will cost $202. All of my money goes to rent and bills. I’m extremely grateful for the offer but I need help getting the money to transfer the title. So I’ve started this GoFundMe. If you can donate that would be amazing, if you can’t, I get it, but if you see me walking in Abilene, please give me a ride. Thank you.
