I’m raising money to benefit Suicide & Co, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
Hey guys… In the end of January I am climbing to the top of Snowdonia alone to raise money for a charity incredibly close to my heart. This idea has kind of been sitting in my brain for the last few months but quite a few things have happened in my immediate circle of friendship and it’s really sparked a conversation about mental health between me and a lot of of my guy friends and a lot of my girlfriends and a lot of family.
Two years ago, the world and every person that was lucky enough to know him, lost Jack. And I think about him all the time. I find Christmas a really hard time for me personally in the way that I grew up with my family relationships and my mother lives in the countryside for her husband, which is where I met Jack as he was one of the first few constant friends I made out here. Seeing him at family gatherings and friends parties and even when we go out for drives when I was on holiday from school and then in the holidays of university and I miss him all the time. I spent Christmas here this year and it just has never been the same knowing that I used to spend time in the Christmas holidays with him and then spending last Christmas with his family, who by the way or unbelievably incredible. There’s a local place where we get our Christmas trees every year from which I can remember from about the age of eight and that’s where jack used to work and since he passed I’ve never been able to go back since and it’s literally the best Christmas tree farm and whenever I see Christmas trees I always feel sadness. This is no way me trying to dominate anyone else’s grief or have like a grief off which I think can happen a lot and loss and what his family and close friends have gone through. I’ll never be able to understand, and I hope I never have to but hearing these stories from him about how his amazing sister who was literally his best friend used to pack him packed lunches for work and spending time with her last year and getting to talk about him was just the biggest blessing I didn’t know I needed and so I wanted to do something about it. at the time of Jack’s passing I was in third year of drama school and a faculty member who shall not be named suggested to me it would not be wise to miss a day of school to go to Jack’s funeral as I could miss out on the Carlton Hobbs competition audition. I was 20 years old at the time and really in the mindset that in order to be a good actor, you have to sacrifice blood sweat and tears but now looking back that is probably the biggest regret of my life so I wanted to do something to honour his life and carry on his legacy and I’m almost laughing typing this bit because I know he would find this so cringe that I’m doing this post but I really did love him and so therefore I am raising money for this charity. I’ve always wanted to climb Snowdonia and it’s been something that I’ve spoken about with previous partners, but I wanna do it alone and I would love your help. Any money you can donate would literally mean the world even if it’s two quid but also I understand financial times are tough right now so please if you could share this that would mean so much. I’m also doing damp January because I don’t really like any form of restriction, and if one of my friends gets amazing news, I wanna celebrate them with a sip of bubbly he he he. But in all seriousness last year it was released that around 50% suicides are drug or alcohol related and as someone who has suffered with her own mental health, and knowing that doing this will make me quite emotional I don’t really feel like consuming any more depressants, which alcohol is – absolutely no shade to anyone ever for drinking. I will definitely drink again in the future just right now it’s not soothing my lifestyle anyways this is irrelevant. Tell your friends to tell your friends to tell your grandad to tell his pub charva squad. And I know January can be a really tough time so if any of you are feeling anything and reading this, please know that you are so loved and that your life is so important and worth living xx
