Help me to save Baby Bear!

Hi, I'm Chev and I am absolutely in love with my Baby Bear. After over a decade of not having doggos, I decided to take the plunge and got Bear in November 2022. Two weeks after, at 10 weeks old, he fell ill with a kidney infection, which has been a roller coaster ever since. Despite getting him to the vet (Vets4Life, Surbiton) and on hydration and medication immediately, his symptoms worsened and he was referred to a specialist veterinary clinic, Anderson Moore (Winchester).

The incredible vets and nurses have been working tirelessly to get Bear back to health, however while we see one area improve another worsens. We are working to ensure all his vitals are back to normal and trying to get him to eat, which he hasn't been able to do on his own for over a week. Until he can eat on his own, he cannot come home.

While this is every pet parent’s worst nightmare, we're getting to a stage where the cost of his treatment is potentially going be the make or break of what we do moving forward. He has insurance (error on my part to take a 4 week complementary one from PetPlan while I researched the best annual one) but that has a lower cap than the policy that I have gone on to set up with them which doesn’t kick in until the end of December 2022, as such we are working to a much lower cap than we need. A key learning for any prospective pet parents out there!

We still don't know what caused the kidney infection or why it has been so severe, the vets are continuing to investigate more. That said, we need to keep him under their care as they can help to make the best decisions for his little life.

He has so much life left and so much love to give. In my opinion, he is the best one, he is so special, beautiful and has the most gorgeous spirit, and I don't want this to be the end.
