One of the most difficult things to do is to ask for support. Especially when I have always been one that has created events for the community, started fundraisers for the youth and served many of them as a football coach. I have worked since my youth doing things to support others. Yet, here I am.
My life begin to change drastically almost a year ago. On 1/23/2023 I went into surgery due to an infection for a cut I had on my toes (on my left foot). Those toes were all amputated and as you can imagine I was extremely distraught and saddened. To necessitate recovery and healing, I was soon put into rehab.
Little did I know, these events would spiral completely downward and change the course of my life forever. After a few months I was told that the infection in my toes started to spread up my leg. On 5/13/2023 my left leg was amputated below the knee. I was devastated. To make matters worse, because I was placed in a recovery and rehab facility, I was let go from my job as an Addictions Counselor .
I began to feel like one thing was happening after another. Due to my loss of the job I had to apply for health care. Unfortunately, it would only pay 80% for a prosthetic leg, leaving me with the rest of the balance. Today, I am on crutches and doing all that I can to save money to purchase the leg. As you can imagine, a prosthetic leg would bring normalcy back to my life.
This is where you come in. I am asking you to make a small donation. Also, if you could also share my fundraiser link with your friends, it would mean so much. The more people I can reach the quicker I can reach my fundraising goal. Thanks to all of you for reading this. Thanks and sincere appreciation to all of you that have lifted me in words, prayer and support. I am extremely appreciative.
Sincerely,
Keith Muhammad
