English:
My little sister is called Yaniry; she is 39 years old, she is a nurse and a single mother of two children. Resident in the Dominican Republic. About nine years ago, she had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (Her immune system attacked her Thyroid Gland). However, she had been suffering from muscle pain and weakness for many years before, to the point of being incapacitated for a long time.
Currently, she needs the help of a cane to walk, and there are days when she can't get out of bed. From the moment she began to present significant symptoms, she is unemployed. She depends on many medications and medical follow-ups, which she can carry out thanks to the solidarity of friends and family.
Thanks to them, she has also been able to travel from the DR to New York because, despite the multiple studies that have been carried out since her symptoms began, she has not had a specific diagnosis.
In December 2021, he arrived in the United States with the Neurologist (Mark Gudesblatt, at South Shore Neurologic Associates, Patchogue, NY), who has indicated a series of studies (among which there is a Skin Biopsy to rule out Small Fiber Neuropathy), a study that is not carried out in the DR. Such studies are expensive and delay your stay here and she does not have the resources to do them. Your treatment and being able to have a better quality of life will depend on her diagnosis.
