Help me, to keep my mother alive

My name is Adrian, only child who was raised by a brilliant women who played the role as a mom and dad. At her age of 30, when I was 7 years old she was diagnosed with Lupus. Because of her diagnose, her kidneys failed and completely stopped working. Since then, she has been in dialysis for almost 24 years. In addition, she found out her heart was too big which is called Cardiomegaly at the same time she is also hypertensive.

Despite all things previously mentioned, she had the courage to keep going and accomplish all her wishes.

To start off, I want to first explain her current situation. Glenda is originally from Venezuela. We came to the United States of America about 2 years ago, for a better future and assistance for my mom who did not had the possibility to be assisted because of the lack of medical conditions that are offered and poor assistance.

With all the things that were previously mentioned Glenda who is my mom at her age of 54 she came in to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital on October 1st. We arrived to the hospital because she had hard time breathing, found out she had a Hemorrhagic Stroke.

We waited in the emergency Room for almost an hour. We notice my mom had stopped breathing and was choking herself. Doctors came in to the picture and they had to proceed an emergency surgery since there was no time to waist. Her brain was not only affected by the stroke, but also because her brain was full of fluids and had not much oxygen.

My mom is now on day 20 in ICU. Currently has 2 brain drains that helps drain the fluids and the blood that is coagulated. Because of all these procedures, she was unable to breathe on her own, therefore doctors placed a tube to prevent her air way from closing. Hoping it'll be removed before the 14 day period of allowance to have in a human body.

On October 18th she had a tracheotomy procedure since she still was unable to breathe on her own. We are currently waiting to confirm if she will need to be on another surgery to proceed. If so, she would have to be put on another surgery procedure that is called the shunt.

As of right, as previously mentioned Glenda does not qualify for a regular health insurance. Since she is currently on a process for Asylum. That does not allow the person to become eligible for any help that includes a health insurance.

The hospital is now pressuring to come up with a solution to the future, that unfortunately I do not have. Because it is a situation not only difficult to handle but also that her case is unusual due to her immigrant status and economic situation. My mom cannot apply for an insurance due to her immigrant status. Glenda will essentially need rehab and all the equipment that requires to be with the trake and with the use of a ventilator. Which not only is incredibly expensive but it is also required for a indefinitely period of time. The hospital is reaching to a point where they cannot come up with a solution since Glenda's case is very unique and special.

At this point we are mostly asking for prayers to maintain our hope and faith.

However, with all the respect and kindness we highly appreciate any penny that could be added to this cause and to help me KEEP MY MOM ALIVE.

If you ask me, what would her wishes be. The answer is she just wants to live.

Medical History/Records/Proof

Mi nombre es Adrian, el único hijo que fue criado por una mujer brillante que interpretó el papel de madre y padre. A la edad de 30 años, cuando yo tenía 7 años, le diagnosticaron lupus. Debido a su diagnóstico, sus riñones fallaron y dejaron de funcionar por completo. Desde entonces, ha estado en diálisis durante casi 24 años. Además, descubrió que su corazón era demasiado grande, lo que se llama cardiomegalia, al mismo tiempo que también es hipertensa.

A pesar de todas las cosas mencionadas anteriormente, tuvo el coraje de seguir adelante y cumplir todos sus deseos.

Para empezar, primero quiero explicar su situación actual. Glenda es originaria de Venezuela. Llegamos a los Estados Unidos de América hace unos 2 años, por un futuro mejor y asistencia para mi madre, que no tuvo la posibilidad de recibir asistencia debido a la falta de condiciones médicas que se ofrecen y la mala asistencia.

Con todas las cosas que se mencionaron anteriormente, Glenda, que es mi madre a la edad de 54 años, entró en el Hospital Henry Ford Macomb el 1 de octubre. Llegamos al hospital porque le costaba respirar, se enteró de que tenía un accidente cerebrovascular hemorrágico.

Esperamos en la sala de emergencias durante casi una hora. Nos dimos cuenta de que mi madre había dejado de respirar y se estaba ahogando. Los médicos entraron en la foto y tuvieron que proceder a una cirugía de emergencia, ya que no había tiempo para la cintura. Su cerebro no solo se vio afectado por el accidente cerebrovascular, sino también porque su cerebro estaba lleno de líquidos y no tenía mucho oxígeno.

Mi madre está ahora en el día 20 en la UCI. Actualmente tiene 2 drenajes cerebrales que ayudan a drenar los líquidos y la sangre que se coagula. Debido a todos estos procedimientos, no pudo respirar por su cuenta, por lo tanto, los médicos colocaron un tubo para evitar que su aire se cerrara. Con la esperanza de que se elimine antes del período de 14 días de asignación para tener en un cuerpo humano.

El 18 de octubre se sometió a un procedimiento de traqueotomía, ya que todavía no podía respirar por su cuenta. Actualmente estamos esperando para confirmar si tendrá que someterse a otra cirugía para continuar. Si es así, tendría que someterse a otro procedimiento quirúrgico que se llama shunt.

A partir de ahora, como se mencionó anteriormente, Glenda no califica para un seguro de salud regular. Ya que actualmente está en un proceso de asilo. Eso no permite que la persona sea elegible para ninguna ayuda que incluya un seguro de salud.

El hospital ahora está presionando para encontrar una solución para el futuro, que desafortunadamente no tengo. Porque es una situación no solo difícil de manejar, sino que también su caso es inusual debido a su condición de inmigrante y situación económica. Mi madre no puede solicitar un seguro debido a su condición de inmigrante. Glenda necesitará esencialmente rehabilitación y todo el equipo que requiere para estar con la tráqueta y con el uso de un ventilador. Lo cual no solo es increíblemente caro, sino que también se requiere por un período de tiempo indefinido. El hospital está llegando a un punto en el que no pueden encontrar una solución, ya que el caso de Glenda es muy único y especial.

En este punto, en su mayoría estamos pidiendo oraciones para mantener nuestra esperanza y fe.

Sin embargo, con todo el respeto y la amabilidad, apreciamos mucho cualquier centavo que se pueda añadir a esta causa y para ayudarme a MANTENER VIVA A MI MAMÁ.

Si me preguntas, ¿cuáles serían sus deseos? La respuesta es que ella solo quiere vivir.

update/actualizacion

An official update and progress of my mom (Glenda). My mom has had small progress since the last time this story was written.

The inflammation and swelling has gone down tremendously from her brain.

The two drains from her head have been removed thanks God!

As of now right now, we are in a roller coaster. Some ups and downs, good and bad days. She has been slowly following commands. Such as: moving her fingers from her right hand, both of her feet and sometimes even a small movement with her head. Not too much but still a progress. We have to keep in mind she is very weak as each day is one more laying in bed. However she confirms what I’ve been saying since day one, she wants to live!

We keep fight this battle every day, hoping nothing but the best and keeping up with prayers!

Una actualización oficial y el progreso de mi madre (Glenda). Mi madre ha tenido un pequeño progreso desde la última vez que se escribió esta historia.

La inflamación y la hinchazón han disminuido enormemente desde su cerebro.

¡Se le han quitado los dos drenajes de la cabeza, gracias a Dios!

A partir de ahora, estamos en una montaña rusa. Algunos altibajos, días buenos y malos. Ella ha estado siguiendo órdenes lentamente. Tales como: mover los dedos de su mano derecha, ambos pies y, a veces, incluso un pequeño movimiento con la cabeza. No demasiado, pero sigue siendo un progreso. Tenemos que tener en cuenta que está muy débil, ya que cada día es uno más acostado en la cama. Sin embargo, ella confirma lo que he estado diciendo desde el primer día, ¡quiere vivir!
