Hello, my name is Thomas and I love Swimming. I have made the WA Special Olympics State Swimming Team heading to Nationals in October 2026.
I have Autism, Intellectual Disability and Sensory Processing Disorder so it's hard for me to get out into the community, but I battle through this with the help from my family. I started swimming at the age of 12 after I could handle water on my face, now I am swimming at Country Level, State Level and now going up to National Levels. This has been a big challenge for me. The last two years, I was selected to represent WA in School sports on the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. This was my first time on a plane; I did leave finger marks in my mum's arm. But to represent my state was an amazing experience for me and in the Brisbane School Sports (Last year), I was named Best WA Sportsman of the swimming competition. I always try my hardest when I swim.
On the 18th and 19th October 2025, I swam in the Special Olympics State Swimming Competition and I got 2nd in 50m Butterfly, 2nd in 100m Freestyle, 2nd in 200m Freestyle, third in 100m Freestyle and third in Relay Team.
In December 20th to 22nd, at WA Senior States for Swimming WA, I got 6 PB's out of 8 races and coming home with 2 Bronze Medals (400m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke) and 1 Gold Medal in 100m Butterfly over 3 days.
I have done well with my achievements in the past few years.
In 2025; I was nominated for Sports Person of the year with Disability in the top 3 of Mandurah.
In 2024, I won the City of Rockingham Sports Star Award with a Disability, also in 2024 I qualified for the 400m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle in the Australian MC Age Championships.
I train with Mandurah Swimming Club 3 days a week and I train with Special Olympics WA once a week in Craigie.
