Hi, my name is Larisa. I'm a mother of 4 boys and a former linguist for SIL Ethiopia. I worked on one of the unwritten languages (at that time), and created the alphabet, which was used to make the first dictionary and first books for beginners in the Kacipo-Balesi language (other names for the language are: Baale, Suri). I had the privilege to help with the development of some other languages in the Mizan Teferi area.

My 5 years in SIL Ethiopia had a great impact on so many people's lives, so I still feel very much connected to the rich culture of Ethiopia.

This year SIL Ethiopia is celebrating its 50th anniversary and I would love to be there in person to celebrate, encourage and help in any way I can. Please help me to make this trip possible. My goal is to collect at least $2,500 by 20 February which would cover airfare and stay. If you are willing to contribute more, I would love to donate the rest of the funds to the needs of the local community in the Mizan Teferi area (clothing, shoes, soap, etc. are always needed).
