Help Me To Get My Sister Kim A Home She Deserves

Donation protected
When my sister Kimberley was born, the doctor told our parents that she would not make it - They believed she would not walk, talk, or survive for more than a few weeks. Kimberley was born after only 6 months in the womb - weighing in at 1.5 pounds, she was so small that she was just able to fit in the palm of your hand. It has not been easy for Kimberley since she came into this world; she was premature, spent 6 months in an incubator, was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, and was so fragile; her body could not manage to support her own weight. Despite her prognosis and the ongoing struggle to survive,  she was released home to be with her family  at 6 months of age. I remember her being so tiny I was so afraid to touch when she first came home,  my greatest fear was I I would hurt her, or maybe even break her.

Her parents, out of a desire to give her proper access to care and a shot of having a normal life, made the gut-wrenching decision to take her to England at age 8. There, she attended special education suited for children who are mentally or physically challenged. Working through the program, she learned to take care of her basic needs, learned how to walk, under went corrective surgeries, and made immense improvement in her quality of life.

Though she was never confined to a wheelchair, she struggles with normal tasks, and It's difficult for her to move about the world. She requires assistance in carrying out activities that require a range of movement that you and I would take for granted. She faced many challenges,  but Kimberley has surpassed all the doctor's predictions, and has grown into a beautiful and smart woman. She exudes an aura of positivity no matter the challenge, and boasts a smile that will melt hearts. She fills the room with laughter, and never allows anything inconvenient to dampen her spirit.

Upon completion of her schooling, her father decided to move back to Jamaica, where he would retire and assume a simple life for Kimberley, and his elderly mother, who just turned 100. He entrusted his life long savings to a local construction firm, and decided to build a home for his family. The construction firm sent him photos of progress, and  as such he felt at ease with sending payments as the work progressed and continued on the house. After packing up his life and family, he returned to Jamaica to find, the photos to be a lie. He returned to find his home was unfinished, and was simply walls and a shell. It has been 4 years and although a case is pending in courts, Kimberley, her 78 year old father, and her 100 years old grandmother have no end in sight; and they continue to live in an unfinished home.

This Go Fund Me's main purpose is to serve justice to Kimberley and her dad. It is to give her a home with the comforts she not only deserves, but needs as a result of her disability. This home was meant to be a gift to Kimberley from her dad to ensure she would have a place to call home long after he was gone.

You may ask what exactly will it cover? I can assure you every penny will go towards the completion of Kimberley's house. It will help with tiling the floors, creating smooth walkways in the front and backyard, finishing the façade that is currently concert and cinderblock, installing a solar hot water heater, doors for the rooms and main entrances, windows  and window burglary bars, electrical and plumbing, a bathroom outfitted with  amenities required for her disability, and a kitchen where Kimberly can cook her famous omelets.

We encourage you to contribute as big as your heart permits as it will be greatly appreciated and put to good use. If you can't donate cash, donate shares so others can see Kimberley's  story.  Help us give Kimberley the tools to be an independent , and live a comfortable life, minimally impacted by her disability.
