Help Me to Finish My First Short Film

Hello!

My name is Philippa and I'm an emerging young, female screenwriter and director based in London.

I am about to shoot my debut short film, (28, 29, 30 July 2023), since finishing film school in March 2023. I initially planned this as a fully self-funded project, however I have hugely exceeded my budget, and need help to get it through post-production and the festival circuit.

Finishing this film is important for two reasons:

1. The subject matter is about mental health and will give a voice to those who have and do suffer from psychological illness.

2. It is the first step in my career as a filmmaker.

ABOUT THE FILM - 'Shame On You'

'Shame On You' is a psychological thriller/horror film exploring the devastating effects of a young woman suffering from serious psychological distress and grappling with her own inner demons. The message behind this film is a strong one - that we cannot kill or run from our own darkness. I am making this film to bring awareness to mental health and suicide, and the seriousness of what can happen if we do not work through our own traumas and address our issues.

I have been working very hard over the last three months, during the pre-production phase of this film. I have sourced an amazing crew and actors, and we are all putting so much time, effort and energy into this. We just need your help to get it over the finishing line!

ABOUT ME

I am 29-years-old, and I am just stepping into the world of film, after finishing a 6 month film course in March 2023. I have been through my own journey of recovery from mental illness and addiction, which has prevented me from following my heart as a creative for most of my life. The last 12 months has been one of coming out of the closet as a creative, and trying to live up to my potential. I have always dreamt of doing this, and this is the first time I am actually doing it. But I need your help to bring my vision to life and give this story the money and attention it deserves to truly reach its potential.

THE FUNDS:

If you decide to give to this project, the funds will be used in post-production and in the festival circuit - which is where this film has the opportunity for real exposure, which would accelerate my career as a young filmmaker.

I need £700 to get me through the post-production phase and £500 to submit my film to multiple festivals around the globe.

£400 will pay for a colour gradist to grade my film to professional standards.

£300 will cover the rent for an M1 MacBook so I can edit the film.

£700 will allow me to enter my film into an estimated 20-30 festivals around the globe.

£100 will cover the costs of screening my film at a local cinema.

£50 will cover the fees taken from GoFundMe.

UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2023

I need some extra money to cover the costs of van hire to transport equipment during the shoot. This is an estimated £3-400.
