Hi, I'm Amanda, I'm in my final 6 months of a Level 4 Counselling qualification which I have had to self-fund because there wasn't any government funding when I started. I have been volunteering my time and counselling skills at a training placement here in Saltash, which focuses on music and Mental Health for young people aged 13-25. This is where my passion is; young people's mental health.

I study 1 full day per week in Ivybridge, with about 10-12 hours work each week at home. As well as that, I give 2-4 hours per week free counselling as part of my training placement requirements, and I have to spend between 1 and 4 hours each week on Professional Supervision and Personal Counselling (as per BACP requirements). All this means my work opportunities are kinda limited!

Ironically, my own health and mental health has been suffering these last few months and I've been unable to work at my job as a part-time SEND Teaching Assistant (which I also love). It seems that the pressure of working, studying and being a Mum to 4 young people who's father died in 2012 (that's not a pity-plea, it really is extra-difficult) has taken it's toll.

Since November I've been signed off sick from the SEND job, which has helped my physical and mental health, but it's meant that I haven't had the money to pay the monthly fees for my course. The course are now saying they'll suspend me, and my tutor is worried that they won't allow me the certification when I finish, unless I get back on track.

I'm so close! This 2 year course finishes in mid July this year.. just 5 months. I would really, really appreciate any help. Thanks for reading x
