Help My Son Access a Life-Changing Autism Assistance Dog

Hannah Ball is organizing this fundraiser to benefit Autism Dogs Charity.

Hello, my name is Hannah, and I'm reaching out to ask for your support in securing a life-changing autism assistance dog for my 11-year-old son.

My son is autistic and also has dyspraxia, a condition that affects his coordination and ability to manage everyday tasks. He faces daily challenges with sensory processing, anxiety, social interaction, and independence. Despite these difficulties, he is a bright, funny, kind-hearted boy with so much potential.

Following careful research and professional advice, we’ve found a specialist charity that provides autism assistance dogs trained to offer tailored, therapeutic support. These dogs do more than offer companionship—they can help to reduce anxiety, promote independence, improve communication skills, and even interrupt behaviours that may lead to self-harm. For children like my son, they offer calm and reassurance in a world that can often feel overwhelming.

The total cost of training, providing, and matching a dog through the Autism Dogs Charity (Registered Charity No. 1199343) is approximately £23,000. This covers:

Specialist training in obedience, public access, and specific support tasks

Desensitisation and environmental exposure to ensure the dog can safely support my son in public

Ongoing assessments and professional support throughout the placement

The charity is generously covering £8,000 of the cost through its own fundraising, and I have already contributed a substantial deposit to secure our place on the programme. We are now seeking to raise the remaining £11,500 to make this life-changing support a reality.
