Hey! I'm Dione and on December 23rd, I’ll be undergoing my third Chiari malformation decompression surgery to help reduce a
Syrinx. This journey has been incredibly challenging, and this upcoming operation means I’ll be unable to work for at least six weeks while I recover and spend time in Brighton hospital over the festive period.
I’m reaching out for support to help cover essential bills and living expenses during this time. Any donation, no matter the size, would make a meaningful difference and help ease the financial stress so I can focus on healing.
Thank you so much for your love and support
Here is some information about chiari malformation
Chiari Malformation is a neurological condition where the lower part of the brain extends into the spinal canal, disrupting the normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid and putting pressure on the brainstem and spinal cord. This can cause symptoms such as severe headaches, neck pain, dizziness, balance issues, numbness or tingling, vision problems, difficulty swallowing, and significant fatigue. When Chiari interferes with fluid movement, it can also lead to a syrinx—a fluid-filled cyst inside the spinal cord—called syringomyelia. A syrinx can enlarge over time and damage the spinal cord, leading to chronic pain, weakness, loss of sensation, coordination problems, and other neurological issues. Both conditions are serious, often require ongoing monitoring, and may need specialized treatment or surgery to prevent further progression and protect nerve function.
