My name is Samantha, I’m 28 years old, and in February of this year I was diagnosed with stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Breast cancer. I’ve been doing chemotherapy since February 28th, and will soon be having a double mastectomy, and receiving radiation treatments daily, for 3 weeks.
My breast cancer is hormone positive, and aggressive. My tumour is large, and has not been responding well to chemotherapy. Because of this I am now on hormone blockers (and will be for at least 5 years), and an oral chemotherapy pill. I also have to give myself (my common law partner does because I’m too scared to) an injection every 4 weeks to help preserve my eggs and ovaries in hopes we can have children some day, and another injection after each chemotherapy treatment to boost my white blood cell count. In total, I’m currently on 11 different medications. Some of which I need to get biweekly. Others monthly.
I’m hoping to raise funds to help with the costs associated with my cancer care (travel, my many medications), as well as day to day costs like groceries, and rent.
I am unable to work, unemployed and on medical EI currently… but it runs out on July 19th. After that I will have no income. My partner is employed full-time, but it’s not fair to him to have to pay for everything- groceries, rent, MY medications, gas, bills…
I will be returning to my 2nd year of college in the fall, and only then will I be receiving financial help through TSD.
Any amount received, big or small, is appreciated and helps tremendously. Finances are a great stress, and worry of mine. This journey has been long, tough, and isn’t ending anytime soon. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Thank you.
Update: Several people have reached out to me indicating they’d like to help, but not through this platform, they’d rather e-transfer me. My email for e-transfers is not allowed to be displayed on this website, however if you know me personally I’d be happy to give it to you, just send me a FB message or text! I have auto deposit enabled. Thank you so much!
Update: Thank you all for donations! I am so appreciative and thankful for you all♥️ I finished chemo on June 27th! So glad to be done! Now to wait for my MRI appointment to determine if my tumour has shrunk enough, and off of my chest wall, for surgery first OR if it’s hasn’t, then radiation will be first.
Update: The results of my MRI are back, and my tumour has shrunk off of my chest wall! so surgery is a go! August 18th I’ll be having a double mastectomy. Then 6-8 weeks after that will be radiation. Then 6 months after radiation is done I will be having reconstruction surgery.
Update: Had my Double Mastectomy yesterday (August 18th), and I’m doing much better than I anticipated! I’m very sore, but able to move around quite well, I have an appetite, I was able to sleep overnight, my drains are not too bad… I’m pleasantly surprised.
