Help me tell HIS story.

I'm Sue Procko, daughter of John Procko -- a WWII escaped POW whose story has never been told. In fact, there are several hundred men who escaped from the prison camp he was in and many did not make it home. For the last few decades, I have been piecing together the story of his escape for a book I am writing and it is amazing -- a mass escape, a secret organization run by the U.S. government and the many months of living on the run by many of the escapees. It is important to share these insanely heroic story with the world. He never felt he was a hero but he definitely was.
This September will mark the 80th Anniversary of that escape in Italy. And families from all over the world will be attending. I want to capture the memorial and its activities as well as interviews from the various families of both the escapees and those Italian families who helped them. BUT I need some help. I need assistance in the travel costs as well as the video crew who will be capturing the interviews for me. The video crew will be about $6,500. I have selected a terrific Italian-based video crew who know many of those connected to the Memorial camp. And get this, the camp is still there -- it is now open to the public so that we can remember this time. The remainder of the funding will go towards travel expenses (hotel, air fare and other minor costs). I expect those to be another $7,500.
One of the very last things I want to do is ask for assistance but at the same time, I don't want to miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capture these stories. This is just the first phase but an extremely important one.
Won't you help me?
The first photo is near the mountain where he hid for several months in Central Italy and the second photo is the back wall where he escaped through a hole in the wall in the Marche Region of Italy. The others were at various stages but the last was upon his return to the States.
And if you want more information, I'm happy to provide. Thank you for helping tell this historic and amazing story.
