My name is Paulo Hayden, and I am a flight attendant who loves traveling the world and taking care of people in the skies. Unfortunately, my life took a devastating turn.

Due to medical malpractice in the United States, I went through 7 surgeries that almost cost me my life. Since then, I have been unable to work for 6 months without a paycheck, and I’ve already spent 52,000 reais trying to recover.

On top of this, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. To continue my treatment safely, I came to Brazil, but I am still fighting hard to survive. Now, I urgently need another surgery before September 30th. The cost is 45,500 reais, but I only have 42,700 reais available.

After the surgery, I was left with no control over my urine or feces. I can’t describe how painful, humiliating, and exhausting it feels. I’ve lost control of my own body — something so basic, so human. The only chance I have to recover my dignity is through 5 months of physical therapy and very costly medications. The treatment costs 12,000 reais per month, which is a total of 60,000 reais (about $11,517 USD).
