Help me support the children in my hometown

To my friends, family and anyone else who might be reading this,

As you might know, I am originally from Venezuela where millions of people have been forced to leave the country due to the devastating socioeconomic and political crisis. I recently visited my family back home and was able to see and experience first-hand the problems they have been facing in the last few years such as daily power outage, water and gas shortage, lack of health care, medicines etc. and, although I did bring some basic supplies with me to donate to my community and also provided some financial support, it definitely wasn’t enough and got me thinking of what else I could do to help improve their quality of life and try to bring some comfort to such stressful and hectic times.

When I was there, I had the opportunity to meet with the catholic priest of my hometown and further discuss the challenges and struggles they have been facing. Despite my support and my parents’, who have been missionaries for many years there, has not been enough to cover their expenses with only trying to meet the very basic needs, such as medical assistance and food for them.  This year, the number of affected families and their children has increased significantly and the church is currently trying to feed 160 children on a daily basis with very poor conditions and an extremely scarce amount of supplies.
Seeing the situation they are currently in, deeply touched my heart, it really shook me up and was very painful to see my community suffer that much and my family not being able to help more. They have been trying to raise funds in different ways with no success the government has stopped providing assistance and funds and the lack of donations and high cost of living have seriously impacted as well.
Their current main priority is completing the construction of a shelter that they have been trying to build for a while. The shelter will be equipped with kitchen equipment, supplies and be a proper facility to feed the children. The approximate estimated cost to build of is $2000USD, which is really not much for our Canadian standards and will make a huge impact in their lives.
I am aware that they are not the only ones suffering in Venezuela, but it means a lot to me and since I returned to Canada, I have been thinking a lot about it and while sharing my experience with a friend of mine, he gave me the idea to initiate a campaign through Gofundme with the hope of collecting the money for the good cause. So understanding such a situation, please join with me in prayer, financial support with any amount via this campaign  and in sharing with your co-workers, friends, family and anyone else you think might be able/interested in supporting this very special and meaningful cause.
Help me to reach my goal to in sharing love, supplies for relief, aid and sustainable means of living for the people in my hometown. These children are all capable of doing great things, they just need support, a helping hand and a loving heart. I promise to provide updates about the progress of the campaign and I’m really hoping that once the goal is reached, they will be absolutely thrilled!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you in advance and please note that I am handling the donations on behalf of the church because GoFundMe does not have payment agreement with Venezuela charities and therefore they can’t send the donations directly to them.
