Story

My name is Dawn, and I’m reaching out during the most painful and uncertain time of my life. My son is currently in the Intensive Care Unit after suffering a catastrophic brain injury. He was struck in the head with a bat, and the damage is unimaginable. He cannot breathe on his own and is now dependent on a ventilator and a feeding tube. Doctors have told us he will likely never breathe independently again, and while we are still waiting to fully understand the extent of his brain damage, we know it is severe and life-changing. Story: Since the moment I got the call, I haven’t left his side. My entire life has stopped so I can be here with him. I’ve had to take time off work without pay, and while my only concern is caring for my son, the reality of mounting medical expenses, unpaid bills, and basic living costs is overwhelming.
