Hi, my name is Katie, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my amazing sister Veronica and her family.

Her daughter (my niece Evie) turns 18 years old on November 24. It’s a milestone we are so grateful to reach, but it’s coming in the middle of the hardest year their family has ever faced.

Evie is a three-time cancer fighter.

She was born with cancer, fought and beat cancer again at 11, and now at 17 is bravely facing her third diagnosis: a rare and aggressive cancer in her jaw.

This past summer she went through two full rounds of chemotherapy in Canada, but we were all devastated to learn that neither worked.

This necessitated that she undergo proton radiation in Jacksonville, Florida, and when they return home (likely not until January 2026) she will begin another chemotherapy regimen, one we are all hoping and praying will finally be effective.

Evie is unbelievably strong, but this year has taken a real toll on her and their family.

Even though the kids have been together at different points, almost all of their time this year has been shaped by treatment. Chemo all summer, inpatient surgery, more chemo, hospital admissions, and now living in Florida for radiation. There hasn’t been a moment of anything that feels like normal family time.

They also had to miss Evie’s brother Sully’s 13th birthday when they had to leave home suddenly for radiation.

Evie’s 18th will be spent apart, in treatment.

Sadly, they will also be separated for Christmas, because Evie’s radiation continues straight through the holiday season and into the first or second week of January.

What I’m Hoping We Can Give Them

I want to help bring the family down to Florida in early January, after Christmas, so they can:

    •    be with Evie for her final radiation treatments

    •    stand beside her when she rings the bell to mark the end of her radiation therapy

    •    spend a few days together without hospitals dictating every moment

    •    and then take a short trip to Orlando (Disney or Universal) to celebrate Evie’s 18th birthday, Christmas, and just being together

Before she starts another round of chemo back home, I want them to have one bright memory to hold onto.

Our Fundraising Milestones

These are the practical costs we’re hoping to cover:

$4,000 for flights so the family can reunite in Florida

Roundtrip flights for Mike and the kids to come be with Evie in early January.

$2,500 for accommodations for one week

A place where all of them can stay together when they arrive.

$1,500 for Park Tickets for Evie’s 18th Birthday Celebration

A day at Disney or Universal after she rings the bell.

$1,000 for Transportation & Meals

Car rental/Ubers, groceries, and meals during their reunion and short celebration.

$500 for A “Magic Moment”

Something special for Evie’s 18th — a treat or experience that feels memorable.

Why I’m Asking

Veronica and her family already have a GoFundMe that helped with caregiving and medical travel, and they are incredibly grateful for it.

This fundraiser is different.

It’s not about bills or logistics.

It’s about joy, family, and giving the family something good in the middle of a very hard year.

They also can’t take or store gifts while living away from home, so financial support is truly what helps most.

What This Means

Evie has fought through more in 18 years than many people do in a lifetime. She deserves to be celebrated and her siblings deserve time with her that isn’t defined entirely by cancer and treatment.
