Yasmeen’s story.
Hello
My name is Yasmeen. I am 21 years old. I study laboratory medicine from Gaza. Today, I reach out to you from the depths of despair and devastation, hoping that your compassion will shine a light of hope into our shattered lives.
On October 7, 2023, our world was torn apart by a merciless war that left nothing untouched and touched no one. In Gaza, we are no strangers to conflict, but this time was different. This time, it wasn't just our buildings that collapsed, it was our souls.
Since the war began, we have lived in a state of constant terror. Every day is a battle for survival, with the constant threat of death looming over us like a dark cloud. We wake up every morning not knowing whether we will see the sunset, whether we will hear our children's laughter again, or whether we will have to say goodbye to another loved one.
Yasmeen’s Family
I come from a family of five, each of us with our own dreams and aspirations. However, those dreams have been shattered, and our hopes reduced to rubble along with our homes. Our homes are destroyed, our streets are in ruins, and our future remains uncertain.
I lost my father, may God have mercy on him, in the 2008 war; launched by the Israeli occupation on Gaza City, where my brothers and I were young children.
At the time, the eldest was 6 years old and the youngest was a year and a half. My mother raised us with the help of charities and made sure we were always in the best condition. I have a brother, Wahid Firas, who is a recent high school graduate. He had registered at the university as a new major in communications engineering, but he was unable to complete his education because of the war.
I have two sisters, Nariman, who study administrative and business information systems, Lina is in high school.
My dear mother, 1 month ago she had her gallbladder removed and now she has an inguinal hernia after the operation and needs another operation along with medication.
I study at Al-Azhar University, but since October 7, my dreams of studying have been destroyed, and even if the war ends, I will not be able to complete my education because the university is destroyed due to the Israeli aggression.
Help us return to the source of our lives, our future, and our dreams…
Yasmeen’s Message.
I want to express my deep gratitude to each and every one of you who took the time to read my story and offer your support during this time. My journey began in Gaza, where I, like many others, dreamed of a future full of hope and promise. However, the relentless horrors of war shattered those dreams, leaving me and my family devastated and consumed by deep despair.
With your help, we can begin to rebuild our lives from the remaining rubble. Your generosity will not only provide us with the means to evacuate from this war-torn land, but... it will also provide us with a glimmer of hope for a brighter tomorrow.
I want to assure you that your support will not go unnoticed. I am committed to transparency and will share regular updates about the progress we make, ensuring that you can see the impact of your kindness directly.
Together, let us stand as beacons of hope in the face of darkness; to show up to the world, mercy knows no bounds.
Thank you for being a ray of light in our darkest hours.
With deep gratitude,
Yasmeen and her family
Meet the creator of this Fundraiser
Hello everyone, my name is Charla, and like many others, I have created this GoFundMe campaign on behalf of Yasmeen and her family. I've been closely following the oppression and the brutal war against Palestinians since 2020. This issue is not new to me, and witnessing the worsening conditions for the already suffering Palestinian people has left me feeling desperate to find a way to help.
I came across Yasmeen online when she reached out to me through a mutual friend, and since then, we have been in regular contact through messages and video calls, as often as her connection allows. I make it a priority to stay in touch with Yasmeen to ensure she and her family are okay. As this campaign progresses, I will do my best to keep you updated with Yasmeen’s help.
Our Aim
Our short-term goal is to establish a reliable source of income for Yasmeen and her family, enabling them to buy food and other necessities, including medication, materials to repair their tent, funds to cover the land rent, and blankets and clothing to adapt to changing weather conditions.
In recent days, we’ve received encouraging news of a ceasefire, and Yasmeen and her family have made the decision to return to their hometown of Gaza—a place filled with cherished memories of their ancestors and their father. Although they have lost their home, loved ones and livelihood, their hope remains unshaken.
I am committed to helping them rebuild their lives, support their education, and help them get back on their feet. Gaza is their home, and they deserve the opportunity to live peacefully and happily. This is the moment when they need the most support, and together, we can make a real difference in their journey to recovery.
Our Contacts
I collaborate closely with registered organizations and charities such as APAN and Sanabel Alkhair, following their guidance and staying updated on the situation in Palestine. In the past, we have successfully used the funds from this GoFundMe to purchase essential aid from trusted merchants in Egypt, who work closely and regularly with Israeli border authorities to deliver aid to families in Gaza as well as recognized families.
I hope to continue this important work with your support. If you have any question, feel free to email me.
With peace and love,
Charla Gungor
