Hi everybody, my name is Jonah I'm 21 years old and I've been doing circus since I was 6 years old. My main discipline is teeterboard which is a circus aperatus that takes the form of a plank with a fulcrum in the middle and two people jumping
Circus for me is an ever evolving art form which has it's roots in traditional circus where you would see wandering circuses with animals and highly technical stunts. Since then it has changed a lot, animals are not used anymore and the main focus isn't on dangerous skills.
Now the main focus is more centered around story telling and a mix of the Arts, circus is composed of theatre, dance and all sorts of different techniques. The disciplines we do and the technique we train serves the purpose of the stories and making people dream, think, cry and laugh.
In the Circus world nowadays we have the possibility to learn in schools that are centered around these discliplines but also theatre dance and all the things which make up circus.
Since high-school I was lucky to be in schools like that (Ecole National de Cirque de Châtellerault, Plus Petit Cirque du Monde, LeZartiCirque) and the end goal was to be accepted in Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH).
My program is a B.A. in Circus.
This goal has been met and starting in Septembre I'll be doing my first year there.
The thing is the cost of life there is a bit steep and any help would be great.
I am looking to cover my rent, food and basic needs as I pursue my education. Any help that you could give me would be greatly appreciated as I pursue my lifelong dream. Thank you and may I soon see you 'At The Circus.'
