I am raising funds to help me attend a four-week study abroad program at the University of Alicante in Spain this summer. I am currently a Biology major at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and as part of my degree, I am required to complete a language requirement. This program will allow me to earn six credits and fulfill that requirement in just four weeks, furthering my education and helping me stay on track with my academic goals. As a Latino and a first-generation college student, this opportunity means even more to me, as it represents a chance to break new ground for myself and my family.

This trip is a unique chance to immerse myself in a new culture, develop global awareness, and make lifelong connections with people from around the world. It will be my first time traveling outside of the continent, and I am excited to use my new passport for such a meaningful experience. Participating in this program will not only support my degree and interests, but also help me grow personally and academically. Overseas learners often demonstrate higher levels of abstract learning, higher-order thinking skills, and social development. I believe this trip will boost my education and my resume, and help me build empathy and appreciation for others.
