Help Me Study Abroad in Rwanda- Uplifting Community Stories

Donation protected
My name is Izaya Emmanuel, and I have the opportunity to study abroad on the African continent — specifically in Rwanda. This experience will allow me to learn, connect, and share meaningful stories from a country that has demonstrated incredible resilience.

In 1994, Rwanda experienced a devastating genocide in which more than 800,000 people were killed in just 100 days. The history behind this tragedy is complex and deeply tied to colonial influences, but what stands out today is the strength of the Rwandan people and their commitment to healing, reconciliation, and rebuilding.

During this program, I will listen to and learn from the voices of those impacted by the genocide. I plan to conduct interviews and journal my experiences to help elevate these stories and honor the individuals who lived through them. I also hope to document the communities, the environment, and the deep connections people have with their land and culture.

Our group will also participate in meaningful community engagement. This includes helping plant an orchard in a local village, joining community cleanup efforts, and supporting other service projects. My goal is to build genuine relationships and fully immerse myself in the community while learning from the people around me.

This journey will be truly transformative for me — personally, academically, and culturally. The only barrier standing in my way right now is finances. I am seeking support to help cover travel expenses, program registration, housing, and other associated costs.

Any contribution, big or small, will help make this experience possible. In return, I will share photos, videos, and reflections so you can follow along and see the impact of your support.

Thank you for your time, generosity, and for helping me spread love, understanding, and connection across borders. ✨
