Hi, my name is Raniyah Lawrence-Ashford, and I’m raising money to study abroad in Costa Rica through the WorldStrides program.
I am a pre-law student with a strong desire to become a family lawyer. I want to work with children and families and help people navigate some of the hardest moments in their lives. Law is not just a career path for me, it is a way for me to give back and make a real impact in my community. This opportunity would play a huge role in helping me get there.
I have been accepted into the Semester at Universidad Veritas: Fall 2026 Early Start program in San José, Costa Rica. I will be studying abroad from August 22, 2026 to December 12, 2026. During this time, I will be taking courses while fully immersing myself in a new culture and environment.
This experience will help me grow both personally and academically. Living and studying in Costa Rica will allow me to build independence, strengthen my communication skills, and gain a deeper understanding of different cultures and communities. As someone who wants to become a family lawyer, being able to understand and connect with people from diverse backgrounds is extremely important to me.
The total cost of this program is significant, and as a full-time student, covering it on my own is extremely difficult. This fundraiser will help support tuition, travel, housing, and other related expenses so I can fully participate in this life-changing opportunity.
I am deeply committed to my education and my future, and I am doing everything I can to make this opportunity possible. Studying abroad will give me the confidence, perspective, and skills I need to become a knowledgeable and compassionate lawyer who can truly make a difference.
