I have lived with Tourette's Syndrome for my entire life, and as I get older, my symptoms have become more severe. At 38, I face daily challenges that affect both my social life and my ability to work. My motor and physical tics are intense, sometimes causing me to hurt myself by biting my fingers, hitting my head, or throwing objects. I also yell out profanity, and trying to hold back these tics leaves me drained and exhausted. There are times when I have multiple tic attacks and can do nothing but wait for them to pass. The pain and distraction are constant, making it difficult to function and enjoy life.
I'm reaching out for help because I am struggling to stay safe and keep a roof over my head. The disability process has been slow and discouraging—I have already been denied once, and it takes a long time to get approved. My bills are piling up, and my rent is overdue by two months. I am doing my best to stay afloat, but it's becoming harder every day. I never imagined I would be in this situation, and it's difficult to ask for help, but I don't know what else to do.
I grew up in a loving family and had a wonderful childhood. I am grateful for the support I have received in the past, but right now, I need help to get through this difficult time. Any support you can offer will help me stay safe, keep a roof over my head, and maintain my sanity while I wait for disability assistance. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering a donation. Your kindness means more than words can express. Have a blessed day.
