Hi, I'm Colin, I’m 48 years old and living in Ireland.

Recently, I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, also known as ALS. It’s something no one ever expects to hear, and it’s changed my life faster than I could have imagined.

MND affects the nerves that control movement, meaning everyday things most of us take for granted slowly become more difficult. Tasks that used to be automatic now take planning, support, and energy.

I’m not someone who finds it easy to ask for help. But MND brings challenges that are not just physical — it brings financial pressure as well.

As my condition progresses, my living costs are increasing significantly:

• Higher heating and utility bills

• Travel to medical appointments

• Ongoing adaptations to maintain independence

• No ability to work

I want to remain at home, maintain as much independence as possible, and focus my energy on living well — not worrying constantly about rising costs.

This fundraiser is to ease the financial strain that comes with MND, allowing me to adapt as needed and stay safe and comfortable.
