Help Me Stay in the Country I Call Home

Australia has always been one of my biggest dreams. I never really knew why, I just felt a deep pull toward this country. 9 months ago, I finally followed that feeling and I can honestly say it’s changed my life in ways I never imagined.

Living here has helped me become a more grounded, loving and peaceful version of myself. I’ve never truly felt at home anywhere before, I’ve lived in many places and always felt like I didn’t belong. Having grown up in foster families and group homes and moved so many times I’ve lost count, I’ve rarely felt a place truly be my home.

Maybe that’s why being in Australia feels so different, it’s the first time I feel like I really belong. My whole nervous system has finally calmed down. I wake up every day feeling grateful to be here, sometimes even with tears in my eyes because I can’t believe how happy and at peace I feel. I love the culture, the slowing down, the presence, the kindness of people. Life here feels lighter. More real.

Right now, I’m on a Working Holiday Visa that expires in February 2026. I want nothing more than to stay here and continue building my life in the place that finally feels like home. I’m not yet sure which visa option is best for me, and I need the guidance of a migration agent to navigate the process.

The total cost for this next step, including the migration agent, visa fees and potentially study related expenses, can be around $15,000 (or possibly more). I’m doing everything I can to save, but time is running out and I need help to make this dream possible.

Asking for help has never been easy for me. I’ve always chosen an unconventional life, chasing experiences and adventure instead of a steady path. Many people in my life haven’t always understood or supported this choice, but I'm happy I've always followed my gut. I’ve learned so much from the world, but I’ve also spent most of my finances pursuing it.

These past 9 months in Australia have taught me something important: it’s okay to ask for help sometimes. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to me. Every little bit brings me closer to staying in the place that feels like home, something I’ve been searching for my entire life.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, for your kindness, and for believing in someone else’s dream.
