Hello, my name is Giovani Ramirez Olivas, and I am writing to you with a genuine and urgent request for help. I am an alcoholic addict fighting for my life in recovery, and I need to raise $1,500 by November 1st to cover my COBRA insurance premium. This payment is essential for me to continue the life saving treatment I'm currently receiving.
My Journey So Far
My sober date is July 30, 2025, and this is the longest I have been sober in many years. I have been dedicating myself completely to my recovery and have made significant progress:
• I successfully completed detox and residential rehab.
• I am currently attending the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) at Ascendant New York and will soon be stepping down to the Intensive Outpatient Program.
• I have been immersed in the recovery community, attending AA and NA meetings daily, and am just days away from reaching 90 meetings in 90 days.
This treatment has been incredibly effective. I am finding happiness, learning to love myself again and gaining the tools necessary to manage this disease. My life is truly changing for the better.
I am currently unemployed (fighting to get my job back) and have no source of income. While my family has been a huge support, they are no longer able to assist with this critical payment.
If I cannot pay the $1,500 COBRA premium by November 1st:
• I will immediately lose my health insurance coverage.
• I will be discharged from my treatment program at Ascendant New York.
• I will lose my scholarship for sober living, which is tied to my enrollment in the treatment center.
The loss of this scholarship would leave me homeless and force me to abandon the stability and structure that is crucial to early sobriety. My life depends on continuing this treatment and maintaining the stability of my sober living environment.
Where Your Donation Goes
Your donation will go directly and entirely to paying my COBRA insurance premium for one month, buying me precious time to continue my treatment and work on getting back on my feet financially.
Please Help Me Win This Fight
Recovery is a lifelong journey, but the early stages of treatment are the foundation for everything that follows. I am fighting a medical condition that requires professional care, and I am determined to live a healthy fulfilling life.
Any amount helps right now. By contributing, you are not just funding an insurance payment, you are investing in a human life and ensuring a vulnerable person can continue to fight for their future.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for your consideration. I am deeply grateful for any assistance you can provide.
With sincere gratitude,
Giovani Ramirez Olivas
