Hi, I’m Stevie.

I’m at a point where I need a little help to stay stable while I figure out my next steps.

I was laid off in April 2025 after my role was impacted by federal funding cuts under the current administration. Since then, I’ve been applying for jobs consistently, but I’ve only been able to land one interview so far.

At the same time, I had already started building something.

I began creating content in an effort to help my community and Texans be more informed leading into the midterms.

That grew into a focus on local politics, elections, and media literacy, especially here in Houston and Harris County. I wanted people to better understand what’s actually happening around them, not just what’s being said about it.

Over time, that turned into something real.

My platform has grown.

People are paying attention.

Local electeds have reached out to thank me for breaking things down in a way that makes sense.

That let me know I’m building something that actually matters.

It hasn’t been an easy year. Toward the end of 2025, my father became ill and passed away in January. Around that same time, I was also dealing with some of my own medical issues.

But I kept going.

And now I’m trying to turn this into something sustainable.

Why I’m asking for help

I’ve worked to keep my expenses as low as possible and focused on the basics.

At this point, I need a short runway to stay afloat while I keep applying for jobs and continue building what I’ve started.

If I can’t cover my basic living expenses over the next few months, I’ll likely have to leave Houston and relocate to Galveston or Austin.

That would directly impact the work I’m doing, since my focus is on Houston and Harris County. Being here allows me to stay connected to what’s happening and respond to it in real time.

I’m trying to give myself 3-5 months to stabilize things, find income, and keep this going.

This is just to cover the basics while I get through this stretch:

Utilities and home expenses

Food

Transportation

Medical/personal care

Why I care about this work

Most people don’t have the time to dig through what’s actually happening in local politics.

So they end up relying on headlines that leave out context or don’t tell the full story.

That’s the gap I’ve been trying to fill, especially here in Houston and Harris County.
