In January 2018, sensei Ross Conklin invited me to come train with him and his students at the Senshi dojo in Easley SC. I never left. I mean i went home, but i kept going back week after week. eventually, I was asked to help teach. With 17 years of Okinawan Kenpo under my belt and the support of amazing role models, like my Sensei Kevin Smith, i couldn't help but agree.
Opening my own dojo has always been a goal in my life. Nearly 20 years after my journey started im happy to say an opportunity with my friend and Isshinryu sensei Ross Conklin has appeared. In the next month,we are hoping to move to a new location. I will have the opportunity to hold my own classes, curriculum, and future black belts in Okinawan kenpo. I will continue to enhance my skills while assisting in learning and teaching Isshinryu karate.
As a long time student of martial arts, i cant stop reflecting how much it has improved my life and the lives of my family. Starting from scratch is hard and my network spans 2/3 of the United states so i ask for a little help in a time when i know its not easy to help.
As a believer in paying it forward, i would like to offer some return on your investment.
If you donate over $20 myself, Sensei Ross, or another instructor will do a 30 minute 1 on 1 zoom lesson for you or someone of your choice.
$50 we will do a free 30 minute zoom self defense class for you and any size group.
$100 we will do a month of in person (up to 4 times a week at the dojo) or online (twice a week) for you or someone of your choice.
$500 or more and we will come teach a class at your place. Weather its a dojo, sports club, women only setting etc.
Thank you for assisting in making my dreams of teaching karate a reality. If you cannot help then just sharing this post would be help enough.
