Help Me Start Medical School at Duke: Car & Move-In Support
Donation protected
Hi all! For those that may not know me, my name is Jennifer, and after years of pushing through alone, I have finally made it. This fall, I will be starting medical school at the Duke University School of Medicine.
I got here without family financial support, without a safety net, and without shortcuts. I have been flying solo since my single mother passed away in 2020 when I was just 19, managed to graduate from Harvard College, and I did it - I got into med school. But now, I need help getting there.
Med school grants and loans do not cover the cost of a car or the up-front expenses of moving — and both are non-negotiable. I need a reliable car to relocate from Boston to Durham, and it is necessary to have one to live safely once I’m there. I also need help covering some basic furniture for my new apartment.
This is not easy to ask for. I am used to being the one who figures it out, no matter how hard. But the truth is, I can’t carry this last stretch alone. If you’re able to contribute or share, it means more than I can say. Every bit helps, and I will pay it forward in the future — as a physician, an advocate, and a person who never forgets who showed up when things felt impossible.
Thank you for being part of the reason I get to do this!
With love and gratitude,
Jennifer
