My name is Tj, and this is Sophie.
Life has taken some hard turns lately. After being struck by a motorist. I was not at fault and my legal team is trying but there's no end in sight, I’ve been struggling through a long recovery from the accident. In the midst of that recovery, I found Sophie. She had been abandoned in the desert—scared, alone, underfed, and clearly abused. I spent hours earning her trust, sharing the little food and water I had until she finally realized she was safe with me.
Sophie has quickly become my world, and in many ways, she’s the one rescuing me.
The Situation
Right now, we are stuck. I am far from my home, my friends, and my family. My greatest goal is to get back to my aging father to help care for him, but I’ve hit a wall of legal and logistical complications:
* Identification: My license is expired. My home state won't mail a new one across state lines, and because I don't have a valid ID, I can't even pick up mail at General Delivery to resolve it.
* Transportation: Without a valid ID, I cannot renew my insurance or my tags. This makes it nearly impossible to travel safely or legally to find stable work.
* Health: My quality of life is in rapid decline, and more importantly, so is Sophie’s. She is overdue for her shots, and we struggle every day just to stay fed.
Why I’m Asking for Help
I work every odd job I can find, but without a home, stable work, or legal transportation, it is a constant uphill battle. I am not asking for a lot—just enough to cover the legal fees to get my ID and vehicle current, and to ensure Sophie is healthy, vaccinated, and fed.
I don't want to be separated from her, and I know she doesn't want to be away from me. She is my support system, and I am hers.
A Note on Honesty
I want to be completely transparent with anyone considering a donation. Currently, my car is the only place we have to stay. Because I cannot yet afford the comforts I want for Sophie, the image you see of her in a onesie was created with AI to represent the warmth and safety I am trying to provide for her. We are truly struggling, but we are trying every single day to get back on our feet.
Any contribution, no matter how small, goes directly toward getting us home and getting Sophie the care she deserves. Thank you for listening to our story.
