Help Me Smile Again : Restoring My Teeth After Gun Violence

Hi, my name is Jasmine Blackmon and I’m a survivor of gun violence. A single moment changed my life forever when I was walking out of work and was shot 9 times. The physical and emotional scars are deep, but one of the most difficult challenges I’m now facing is the damage to my teeth.

My mouth was wired shut for 2 months and that caused shifting. I was shot in the neck, it went through my mouth and out my nose . The injuries I sustained left me with severe dental trauma, and now, the simple act of smiling has become a painful reminder of that tragic day. My teeth are broken and damaged, affecting not only my appearance but also my ability to eat and speak comfortably. Every time I look in the mirror, I’m reminded of what happened, and it’s been a struggle to feel like myself again.

I’ve been working hard to heal and rebuild my life, but the cost of dental reconstruction is beyond what I can afford on my own. After everything I’ve been through, I just want to feel whole again, to be able to smile without hesitation, and to regain the confidence that was taken from me.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards dental procedures, including extractions, implants, and restorative work, to help me rebuild my smile and my life. This isn’t just about vanity—it’s about reclaiming my sense of self and moving forward from the trauma I’ve endured.
