Share Kindness Now: Our Journey, Our Mission

Share Kindness Now is a nonprofit born out of a simple yet powerful idea: to help children and young adults who, through no fault of their own, lack the opportunities many of us take for granted. Our mission is to meet their basic needs, provide educational opportunities, and pave the way for viable employment options that can transform lives.

How It All Began:

In July 2016, a journey to Siem Reap, Cambodia, introduced me to Kheng Ray, a humble tour guide who would unknowingly change the course of both our lives. As the pandemic took hold in 2020, I asked myself, "Who can I help?" Around the world, people were losing jobs, struggling to survive, and for many, there was no safety net. I thought of Kheng and reached out. He shared that his family was struggling to find enough to eat, as his livelihood depended entirely on tourism, now non-existent.

I began sending financial support, but Kheng did something extraordinary. Instead of keeping it all for his family, he built a classroom next to his home to teach English to the children in his village. What started with 20 students has grown into the Angkor Wat Family English School, now serving over 100 eager young learners each week.

A Life-Changing Moment:

In 2023, an opportunity arose to return to Siem Reap. I created an Amazon wish list, gathering 450 pounds of books, school supplies, and essentials, and personally delivered them to Kheng’s school. I will never forget the moment I saw the children’s faces light up with excitement as they flipped through their new books. That evening, back in my hotel room, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. It was clear that I was meant to be on this path, and in that very moment God put it on my heart, and Share Kindness Now was born.

Our Impact So Far:

After returning home, I formally established Share Kindness Now as a nonprofit, committed to making an even greater impact. With our first fundraiser, we aimed to raise $30,000 and, although we fell short, we raised $4,000—enough to purchase computers, projectors, bicycles for transportation, books, and hire teachers for Kheng’s classroom. These resources are not just tools; they are lifelines, opening doors to a brighter future for these children.

Our Vision Forward:

Today, Share Kindness Now focuses on three core pillars: providing basic needs, supporting education, and creating employment opportunities that empower these young individuals. In January 2025, I will return to Siem Reap for three months, immersing myself in the local community to better understand the commercial landscape and discover sustainable ways to create job opportunities.

This year, our goal is simple yet ambitious: We aim to have 3,000 people donate $10 each. Every single dollar raised goes directly to supporting the children, ensuring they have what they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
