I am reaching out during one of the hardest moments of my life. My mum, who lives in the UK, has been given only a few weeks to months left by her doctors. Every day, I hear that her condition is getting worse, and the urgency to see her grows stronger. It has been 15 years since I last saw my mother in person, and she has been asking to see me and my fiancée before her time runs out. The distance between the USA and the UK has kept us apart for so long, and now, more than ever, I want to be there for her.

Unfortunately, both my fiancée and I lost our jobs near Christmas, leaving us without the means to afford travel. On top of that, my passport needs to be renewed, and my fiancée needs to obtain a passport for the first time so we can travel outside the USA. The costs of round trip airplane tickets, food, accommodation, and passport renewals are more than we can manage right now. I have never asked for help like this before, but I am desperate to see my mum and give her the comfort of having her family close during her final days.
