Hi, I am Irene and I am fundraising for Thiong'o Gachie, a friend and regenerative farmer from Laikipia, a semi-arid lowland in Kenya.
The farm One year ago Thiong’o purchased a bare piece of land near his ancestral territory, an area that receives just 400 mm of rainfall annually.
In only 12 months, he has proven that regeneration is possible: rows of agroforestry trees now green the land, and biodiversity is thriving.
His farm is already a local example between neighboring farmers and it’s quickly becoming a country-wide hub showcasing the power of regenerative agriculture an innovation that Thiong’o has developed for smallholder farmers.
The challenge As rainfall becomes less predictable and more scarce, securing water is critical. Guided by permaculture principles, Thiong’o built a 360 m³ pond to collect seasonal rains. However, without a liner, thousands of liters seep into the ground with every small rainfall, leaving him dry just when he needs the water most.
How you can help We’re raising KES 250,000 (~EUR 1,700) to buy and install a heavy-duty plastic dam liner. Once lined, the pond will retain 360,000 liter of rainwater, enough to irrigate crops and support livestock through six months of the dry season.
Why donate?
• Be part of a global movement proving that regeneration is possible, even in arid regions.
• Receive regular photo and video updates of the farm's progress.
• Join a virtual farm tour and see firsthand how your contribution makes an impact.
Join Us Every contribution, big or small, helps Thiong’o build a farm that not only feeds people, but heals the land and inspires change across East Africa.
Thank you
Thiong'o and Irene
