My name is River, and I am reaching out for support as I work to rebuild my life after overcoming some major challenges. After spending time in prison and struggling with addiction, I am proud to say I have been sober for two years. I recently completed my first quarter of college, which is a huge milestone for me. However, I am currently facing the possibility of homelessness and am trying to find stable housing—not just for myself, but for others who are also fresh out of jail, committed to sober living, and in need of a place where their background won’t hold them back.
This journey has not been easy. Every day, I work hard to stay on track, focus on my education, and support my mental health and disabilities. The funds raised here will go directly toward securing housing, so I don’t have to live in my car or worry about where I’ll sleep next. Having a safe place to call home will give me—and others in similar situations—a real chance to move forward and build a better future. I want to create a space where people like me can have a fresh start, free from judgment and full of hope.
I want to say thank you to everyone who donates, and ask for help during this difficult time. It feels good to have real-life problems, but coming out of jail, being sober, and starting school is hard with my mental health and disabilities, especially with being unable to get into school dorms or find safe and affordable housing. Your support means the world to me, and I am deeply grateful for any help you can offer. Together, we can make a difference and give people like me a second chance at life.https://www.gofundme.com/u/0f45a5f3-5ab1-482a-83dd-928ef18e5461
