It’s Taboo (Ayo Babatope) - A lot of you may know me as being the life of the party but I have a serious issue that at this point, can only be resolved by reaching out for financial help from my community & extended allies. This GoFundMe is to raise £5550 £3400 of which will be used for my final application for settlement status in the UK which would make me a citizen of this country and avoid me from going back to a country where homophobia is rife. The remaining funds will be used for other urgent fees that are specified a few paragraphs below. For some context on my situation - I was born in Nigeria and moved to the UK at age 8? So although I’ve been in the UK for most of my life and worked since I was 17 the home office fees HAVE NOT STOPPED. This is because I’m not considered a British citizen yet but hopefully with your help I will be soon. On the journey to attain citizenship here, I have already renewed my biometric resident visa three times, totalling at £8400. I have paid for this out of my OWN pocket, I have no financial support from family or a salary. The last payment I made was in 2021 and I am still recovering from this debt since cost of living is real! Indeed I am a freelancer who is blessed to be booked for great jobs but they are never guaranteed & when they are the pay isn’t necessarily enough to meet home office fees, rent & cost of living. My primary aim for this GoFundMe is to raise £3400 for my settlement application. £2800 covers the application fee £800 covers the fast track fee that’s required due to time constraints. The remaining £2150 will be used towards - Lawyer fees who submits the application on my behalf -Built up debt from making the last home office payment in 2021 -Meeting my rent this month With that being said, I urgently need to raise these funds for my security in this country, whilst not being put in financial deficit since they make these things so difficult.
